I wouldn't consider myself Communist opponent..but don't know which section to post a question in, so i guess here it stays Very Happy

In a Socialistic society, isn't their always the chance you could get one bad leader and end up like Kim Jong or Stalin's totalitarian dictatorship? How would you prevent this? Just seems scary that one bad leader could lead to years of oppression.

(Sorry, if im missing something, not a pro on Socialism, just know adequate knowledge on it.)

And, side note, this is merely a question, not meant to bring anyone to the conculsion im a hidden Capitalist or a Anti-Commie in general.Rolling Eyes

Authoritarian Leninism is the reason the soviet model fell. Base a state around the party leadership and within 2 generations, when the revolutionary leadership is gone, opportunists will have taken over and the party will be its own class.

solpacvoicis's Marx quote pretty much sums it up.

In communism we believe in decentralized democracy so there is absolutely no chance of one single leader.

What do you mean by this, can you please expand? Because, as i said before, Stalin and Kim Jong turned out really bad, in a short period of time, and practically took over in a unjust degenrated workers state.

...democratic centralism is partly to blame for that.

that means that in the party, everyone can vote and discuss...but once something is decided, EVERYONE in the party must obey!

the other part is this concept:

the idea of having this PARTY at the head of national government, where they work, IN CAPITALISM, is called state capitalism, and is NOT socialism in its true form, nor is it a step towards socialism.

correct me if i'm wrong.

there is no ultimate rule, in america there is a centralized democracy where the national government can do what ever where in decentralized democracy there is no one leader of many but small local governments

Wheres that from?
It seems to me more along the lines of promoting participation in elections.

Back on track communism/socialism and 'leaders' are incompatible. As the socialists round here say "Only sheep need leaders"

That is why I'm an anarchist... i support equal distribution of wealth, in fact i think its a necessity to individual freedom. i believe housing to be a right not a privilege etc. however i have little faith in a proletariat as do i have little faith in any other form of central government

@steel: i got that quote offline, just typing in "karl marx quotes" in google LOL, however, i can pull up an even better quote straight from the manifesto right now

Karl Marx wrote:
We have seen above, that the first step in the revolution by the working class, is to raise the proletariat to the position of ruling class, to establish democracy.

the quote is located at the end of "II PROLETARIANS AND COMMUNISTS" from the Communist Manifesto, English version. (i have the "international publishers" copy)
