| solpacvoicis: I forgot, but I just looked it up. The class is World Civilization since 1815. The class number is WOH 1030, so if you're in college now or will be soon, look it up. Shabazz Freeman: I'm willing to bet the same thing. If not, it's probably just required considering how important it is for the time period I'll be studying in that class. calinis: I can believe it, brotha. | |

| Well here's the deal with Communism in education, based on my personal experience;
Since like the 7th grade Karl Marx has been mentioned in pretty much every Social Studies and History class I ever took. The basic opinions stressed in the text book is that Communism is when the have-nots rise up and take all the power from the haves and set up and economy based on sharing and equality. It, of course, does not mention that the aim is a stateless as well as classless society -- just in case there needs to be some 'proof' that 'Communist' governments always go wrong and become corrupted. It even mentions Marx basing this on an analysis of history. However, it concludes with that though Communism gained popularity in several countries after Marx's death, namely Russia, working conditions improved and the workers did not revolt as the centuries turned and the 1900's began. The teachers always stressed to me that it was 'a good idea, but doesn't work in practice'.
So, sure, it's awesome that you get to study something of your interest (and maybe even debate the professor and other students; I've done it), but it's not actually awesome in the sense that Communism is making it's way into education. It'll still be infested with bias, I'm sure.

Not once was he mentioned until i got to college (it was last semester). And the word anarchy was never used out of the context of chaos. And communist was never said in a good context either. It was never even said to be good in theory, it was said to be an epic failure; that doctors would get the same measley wage as janitors, and everyone survives by suckin the juice out of a rotten potato.

| I wish schools would re-enforce the idea of how dreadful communism really kills, how many died from this evil theory. But many schools in the modern days have an idealistic view, and think much good about this evil theory. Hopefully they o not teach their students that killing is GOOD. Too bad we dont have the cold war mentality again. | |
