Well, as you all must have heard, the Maoists have full control of the Nepalese government - what do you predict they will end up doing? will it help the cause? hurt it? why?

discuss.

i think its very unfortunate. the conditions in nepal were the breeding ground for revolution, but the maoists would kill every man, woman, and child who would sympahize with the government...it was horrible. i feel bad for the nepalise pwople. they were already a poor country, it can only get worse. Sad

what? it can only get better....its still a parliamentary system and the maoists continue to hold power - it appears they are going to take a social democratic root? it makes sense since they already have control of the government

and the maoists have shown they will work with others, to create a better nepal

my question was what they will end up doing, not what they did in the past.

They were democratically elected than deposed an unpopular monarch. They even let the monarch keep one of his palaces. Sounds damn civil to me.

Calinis, are you just taking a position in opposition to the Nepalese Maoists because they do not follow the same ideology as you? Doesn't sound very democratic of you... but than again, American democracy usually means "Vote for me or I crush you'.

Most of Nepal still wanted a king, actually, and im not so sure if they will do good or not, they seem to have promise, but their leads in the Maoist group seem fishy to me.

And Democracy is a bunch of crap. Expecially the part about how were all "free"

'Most of Nepal' being urban Nepal... where the kings support laid. Rural Nepal has been under Maoist control for years now... the capitol was just the final holdout.

uh-huh that's called the illusion of democracy, very effective for controlling a large population while keeping them from getting them angry enough to revolt...

we'll have to wait and see what they do - also, a majority of nepal is in the throes of their revolution and are very supportive of their new government, at least...that's what i heard on the BBC

Well, i guess technically yes to KGB5097, the king tested his luck too many times, monarchy needs to be thrown out the window anyway, its outdated, like Capitalism Smile

They support the revolution, but threw the rates they would rather have the king overthrown and replaced than changed completely, that's were i got confused at first.

No complaints here, though Very Happy

Off the record...

When the king murdered his brother, thats what turned the country against him. Best thing that could've happened for the Maoists was the king usurping the throne as he did...

I am a staunch believer that the royal assassination was the doing of the now deposed king...
